Haonan Tong is a Phd student in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at North Carolina State University. He is currently a research assistant on the NSF funded project “PGRP-Identification of translational hormone-response gene networks and cis-regulatory elements”. He received his B.S. in Communication Engineering from Beijing University of Post Technology, Beijing, China. His research focuses on exploring genetic regulatory mechanisms and identifying hierarchical relationships in plants based on transcriptional and translational data. Specifically, his research concentrates on revealing hormone-mediated mechanisms at the genomic level in two plants, Arabidopsis thaliana and tomato seedlings. Additionally, Haonan is interested in probabilistic modeling, graph theory, machine learning, and control theory.
