Samiul is a PhD student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at NC State University. He received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 2012. Before joining NC State he worked as a Sr. Software Engineer at Samsung R&D Institute Bangladesh (SRBD). Samiul’s research is focused on uncertainty quantification, model selection, and inference of parameters for dynamic models. He is interested in MCMC based approaches for model selection and Bayesian inference, and using these and other machine learning algorithms as tools to improve our understanding of biological systems. His current research is concentrated on modeling and in-silico analysis of genetic regulatory mechanisms of a model plant Arabidopsis thaliana under iron deficient conditions. As part of his research, Samiul applies and develops methodologies to perform uncertainty quantification, sensitivity analysis and parameter estimation.
